It is with great sadness that Dick passed away on Saturday the 5th of July 2003 at the age of eighty after a short illness.
The highlight of Dick’s gliding career was completing his silver badge with silver distance and duration at the age of over seventy and becoming an AEI instructor. This alone was a tremendous feat.
Dick was a keen member of the Lakes Gliding Club for twenty nine years and for the last few years has been our Treasurer. He has been a tremendous asset to the club and was made an honorary life member and Club Director a few years ago. Dick was a true gentleman who would help anyone at anytime, sorting out the clubs finances, helping out with the courses, C of A's at any time and many other jobs. He will be sadly missed.
