December 1995-January 1996
October-November 1995
We recently celebrated the 30th birthday of our Capstan with a party in its honour. A K8 was recently added to the club fleet bringing the total to three two seaters, three singles and six private gliders.
A number of members returned to Thouars, France in June. Peter Redshaw out flew everybody, completing 3000km in 13 flights. Peter Lewis had the farthest land out, 200km away with an eight hour retrieve to follow. John Burdett landed out often, once in the now (in)famous "Forêt du Chardon".
Dave Bull, Alan Dennis and Martin Lewis all completed their AEI ratings. Roger Copley has his Silver badge, Mark Johnson and David Poole have gone solo.

August-September 1995
Diamond Heights at the Lakes! Neil Braithwaite and Peter Redshaw gained theirs on the VE Day Anniversary (Peter having made several unsuccessful trips to Scotland) On the same day Elwood Mancini gained Silver and Gold Heights and Andrew Tebay his Silver Duration, narrowly missing his Gold height through lack of a dip off tow on the barograph.
For the first time the club hosted an assistant instructors course. Our facilities impressed the coaches including Chris Rollings. John Burdett, Alan Meadows and Graham Sturgeon gained their ratings.
Also In recent months Graham Sturgeon gained Gold Height, Roger Copley (finally), Martin Lewis and Andrew Tebay all got Silver Heights and Alan Welch went solo.

April-May 1995
Unfortunately our new clubhouse took a battering in the recent January Gales. We arrived to find one trailer embedded in a wall and another on the roof...
We have a new trailer for the new K21 so it's now ready for some flights across the Pennines.
The club flies all year round, we have no reciprocal membership, launches are £5/1000' and soaring 10-15p/min - i.e. very cheap! Why not pay us a visit and enjoy the spectacular Lakes scenery.

February-March 1995
The LGC is on the up and up! Last time we reported a new clubhouse, this time a K21. It took a three day round trip to bring it back from Germany. Particular thanks are due to Andrew Tebay and Peter Scheer in Germany.
We held our annual dinner/prize giving recently. Awards were: Peter Redshaw - Lonsdale Trophy (Best Cross Country), Leighton Hall Trophy (Best Flight) and the Club Ladder. Maggs and Yvonne, "the gallery girls" - Duddon Trophy (Services to the Club). Alan Dennis - Dodd Trophy (Best Progress). Peter Lewis and John Burdett jointly - Alsford Trophy (Best gain of height). Sir Leonard Redshaw Trophy (Best flight by non-silver) - Alan Meadows. Wooden Spoon - Roger Copley.
In October three members went to Feshiebridge and all came back with badges : Peter Lewis and John Burdett gained Diamond Heights and Alan Dennis Gold Height.
"RIP" Pearson has gone solo. Roger Copley and Elwood Mancini have their Bronze badges.
