Didn't they do well! Our Capstan scooped the best wood in the two seater comp for the second time, and as a reward has gone away to be pampered to come back looking like new. Our K21 also put in a good performance too. Thanks to all who took part, pilots and crew alike. After all our problems with tugs we now find ourselves with two! (Anyone want to buy one?). We are still being affected by the bad weather at weekends and the ban on cross country flying from our site, the committee will have a hard time finding the winners for our various trophies. The only easy one will be the wooden spoon! We are all looking forward to the club trip to Portmoak on 20th October so we can sample the delights of Scotland and of course do some flying.

Well what a year, it must get better, foot and mouth, our tug, and now the hanger doors, I'm not going to say what next. Despite the above we are still a gliding club and are managing to fly most weekends. The club decided that the summer outing should be taken in the UK, so a few of the members descended upon Portmoak for a time, our thanks go to the club, and also Irene and Steve for looking after us as usual. We're now preparing for the two seater comp where the T49 will defend her title, the K21 will also be there this year. One of our members, Stephen Johnson, finally got his Silver Badge, he got his height at Hus Bos after completing the other legs in 1984!! I hope I don't have to wait that long to get my distance. Other events on the horizon are the annual wave trip to Portmoak on 20th Oct and the dinner dance at the Grange hotel on the 10th Nov, note them in your diary.

We now have a new tug, a Belanca Scout, it has been put into immediate service and is performing well. Unlike some clubs our situation has meant that the foot and mouth epidemic has not stopped us from flying albeit local only flying. We are currently acting as host to a few members of Bowland Forrest who have unfortunately had to close. This has swelled the ranks slightly so on marginal days when flight times are short, the tug is hardly on the ground. We all hope the current restrictions will not last too long or impair the seasonal visits to other clubs sampling the delights they have on offer. All the best and good luck to all.

After the appalling weather stopped us from flying we are now a gliding club again, we have even had a few good flying days! January is C of A time so the club has been busy with aircraft inspections and general maintenance of the fleet. Thanks to Dave North, Phil Storer etc. for their efforts to keep us flying through this period. It was also time for our tug, Oscar Lima, to have its C of A too, this has unfortunately led to a prolonged period of maintenance. The club would like to thank Lasham for stepping in with the loan of a Super Cub, without that, we would not be able to fly.
