The force behind the control tower. Brenda and Stella have been part of the airfield management for numerous years. Whenever BAE Systems is flying one of them will be in the tower. If the airfield is active they will be on the end of the radio. If you go on the airfield mid-week please give them a call on your telephone to let them know what you would like to do and where.
Some years ago when the Club was running mid week courses we probably achieved a UK first. The tug was flown by a female, the glider was flown by a female and the tower was controlled by a female. So much for men's lib.
Stella is a past member of the club and flew both gliders and power.
